Mitch Charter School

If you are new to MITCH, you might find yourself asking, "What is MITCH and what is a charter school?" M.I.T.C.H. stands for Multi-sensory Instruction Teaching Children Hands-on, and a charter school is a public school that has chosen a unique curriculum other than what is currently in use by the school district. It is a publicly funded school so the students and their families do not pay tuition. M.I.T.C.H. is a separate 501 (c) 3 nonprofit school approved by the Tigard/Tualatin School Districts. (The 501(c )3 is used to designate a non-religious and non-political school.)

MITCH was founded on a passion for academic excellence. Before settling on an approach, we looked at the top-rated schools academically nationwide to figure out what made them so successful. Determining that schools with an agricultural emphasis were extremely successful, we combined the agricultural focus with the most successful academic curriculum available. We started with a strong "hands on" approach and continue with that model today.

Is it working? Academically, we consistently score in the top rankings of standardized tests. It is not uncommon to hear from a parent that a stranger commented on their child’s manners and confidence. Discipline is not an issue and cliques do not exist.

A friend of mine has 2 kids in MITCH charter school, and I'm sure this will bode well for them. After watching 2 Netflix documentaries on the topic of American public schools, I determined to contribute. Now that my "troubled" building has sold, it's time to re-start the Charity of the Month program... starting with MITCH.
