going purple

I've been off desserts for a few weeks again, and I've been very happy with that. That is not to imply that I've become stellar at figuring out when I'm not hungry, and then not eating, however. That second thing... it comes & goes. Mostly goes.

On the other hand, my taste palate has shifted dramatically when it comes to things sweet. I haven't avoided-like-the-plague, but I have tended to veer-away-from fruit juices, as they contain a MASSIVE quantity of sugar without any protein or fiber to help mitigate the blood sugar punch. This goes also for what I tend to think of as the creme de la creme of juice drinks: green slime (aka Odwalla Superfood).

In my grocer's case recently, however, I found what seemed a good intermediary between nice flavor and drinkable nutrition: Naked Berry Veggie.

One 15 oz. bottle contains 1.5 purple carrots, .33 red beets, .125 sweet potatoes, 91 kernels of sweet corn, 18 chick peas, 15 sweet cherries, 6.5 strawberries, .25 plums, .20 apples & a hint of lemon. Each serving (half a bottle) contains 130 calories: 18g sugar, 5g protein, and 5g fiber.

It's become my new favorite drink.
